"Love begets love." "Don't seek love nor hold on to it especially if it's not freely given. Love will find its way." I've never been in a lot of relationships, I've only been in one. But my knowledge regarding relationships makes up for my lack of experience. For five years I've been single and I watched my friends go through countless relationships in short duration's. Through them I was able to learn the common pitfalls of a relationship. But what do I really look for in a partner? Simple. I want to be with someone who can connect with my mind and soul. It's very rare to find someone who can understand how you think and feel. In addition to that, I've always craved for a loyal man who's willing to work on the relationship through thick or thin. A man who flirts with a variety of women is just a major pet peeve. Call me old fashioned but that's me, I can't change ...
Something always holds us back in a relationship. Nowadays, people change partners like trying on a new outfit. You then think that if it's going to last for a short duration why waste your time? What's the point? There are countless reasons for the temporary relationships that I'll be expounding in 7 examples; (1) When people find someone they like, they want to rush in a relationship. To do that, they overcompensate with their efforts to woo the other person. The other person falls for the false image and starts a relationship. For the first few days, weeks or months the other person can keep up with the facade. But at one point they will find it hard to continue so the mask falls off. This is where the conflict starts. This will be the time that their negative qualities shows. Since the other party isn't aware of these qualities they'll be crestfallen. It's as if they've been cheated. They asked themselves ...
"How do you remove toxic people from your life if that person is family?" That particular question was raised by someone I knew in high school. Let's call him Alex. According to one saying, "blood is thicker than water." Which means to say that you have strong ties with your kin compared to strangers. However, there are also instances wherein that is not the case; or if you are still close, you were doing that to avoid conflict within the family. What happens when that person becomes toxic in your life? Should you still keep in contact with them? How'd you remove them from your life? Those questions can really be tough to answer especially if you love them dearly. When he asked for my advice, I inquired about the story prior to answering his queries. His half-brother was jeopardizing his life by dragging him into a wayward life. He was 6 years younger than his brother whom he idolized. But because of this ...
Is a woman who Loves her self. Recognizes her worth. Has a mind of her own. Do the things that makes her happy. Chases her dreams by turning it into plans and realizing it. Knows the kind of people she should surround herself with. Evades hypocrites, narcisists and the like. Doesn't have to be in a relationship to be blissful and contented in life. Prioritizes people who are important in her life. Doesn't get involved in temporary persons or relationships. If she does, then she quietly moves on when the relationship ends. Won't beg a man to stay. Won't beseech a man for his affections. She believes that both parties should give it freely if they're in a relationship. Doesn't care what others think even if she faces backlash. Can be alone but never lonely. Always make things work out even after facing disasters. Brutally honest in speaking her mind. Will treat you like the way you treat her. Respects individuals who deserved it. Don't trust blindly. Doesn't remain stagnant. 2017 Mel Joy (themonochromereaper.wordpress.com) All Rights Reserved

"I wasn't a morning person, but you gave me a burst of energy. I needed you. You complete me. You made my day." I mumbled this words as I reached for my second cup of coffee while staring at my phone and checking the sites I owned for a feed back on my literary works from both seasoned and amateur writers. I haven't slept the previous night. I have been awake for more than 30 hours already and was contemplating about what I should write in my blog. There's just a lot of issues I'd like to tackle and just thinking about it made me restless. Some of the issues I'd like to address were the following: The surge of terrorism in Marawi City and how it will spread like wildfire if left on its own. Declaration of Marshall Law: It's Pro's and Cons & the ulterior motives of people who were against it (or against the administration). A poem for the fallen soldiers ...

"Is it too late for me to start writing?" I asked that question multiple times. I wasn't always a writer. My ways of coping the frustrations and triumphs in life were mostly expressed thru sketching and painting. I can go on and on for hours in it. Aside from that, I tend to get lost in my thoughts while reading a novel. But what really propelled me to write? I decided to start writing because of the bitter memories that occupied my mind. Although painting eases the pain away, I felt that I have to get my thoughts off my mind. Now, another problem arises, I'm selectively social which resulted to a small circle of friends. Each of them lived too far and have been busy in their own affairs. You see, they've married already and have kids right after graduation. I didn't relish this sort of feeling; melancholia. It's as if I was on the verge of going insane because ...

Reminiscing bygones wasn't my most favored leisure. When you stifled me with unfounded veneration's It jolted a tortuous remembrance Back to the arcane Pandora's box of old. When tranquility betide the riposte to apiece my questions; As one vanished into thin air after securing affections. Now you and your mercurial boots has decamped for a new conquest. So it seems, kismet has played a herculean trick on me once more. 2017 Mel Joy (themonochromereaper.wordpress.com) All Rights Reserved

I have this queer habit of mine that propelled me into a solitary life. As a kid I knew I was different from others. I tend to be alone not because I'm shy but because I want to be left to my own devices. I find it hard to have common ground with people. I'm not the outgoing type, not one for gossips or idle talk. I want to withheld my emotions and keep my life private, I don't relish the idea of being vulnerable especially to people who can't understand me. Although there were times I've made friends, they soon end as soon as the year ends, when I graduated, or when I moved to a different place. I am not really the type to reach out for someone. I haven't been into a lot of relationships. Seriously. They must have known I was alien to their species. I am the type that doesn't fall in love easily because I ...

It was a hectic day. I didn't have the luxury to go to the restaurant or cook since I have to go some place asap. So I opened the fridge and grabbed my on-the-go liquid meal. I shook the bottle, unscrewed the cap and removed the seal. But this action actually made pause for a moment. It made me think about people and how their mind works. I started comparing individuals with this bottle. Everything is sealed tight, just like their mind. They have secrets and ulterior motives that made them act the way they do. In a nutshell, you can't really judge a person and the authenticity with their actions. You just never know. Everything we see might just be pure decoration. However, even if we don't really know the depths of a person's mind we still fall in love with them. To me, that's akin to a strange addiction where humans naturally gravitate. I end this with a question: How much ...

Site’s Peculiar Name
Everything isn’t purely black or white, there’s also the shades of gray where the hidden truth lies. The truth is, and will always be, different according to the person’s perspective on why they’ve handled things a certain way. That is how the author was able to use the “monochrome” as primary label. Also, attached to the site’s name is the word “reaper” which pertains to collector or harvester. By coining the term ”themonochromereaper,” the author tries to elucidate that this site searches for the ultimate truth in every situation.
“In this world where it is either black or white, the truth is in between, you just have to dig deeper.”
