Lily of the Night

Despite the changing of seasons, I seldom whither like other flowers. I am a Lily, remember? I stand tall and don’t bow down To just anyone. I am illumined by the glorious sun. I have bloomed finally, Discovering my innate qualities Sought and desired by plenty. Bask in my beauty all year round, Smell my potent fragrance, It will leave you spellbound. I value purity, piety, humility. I offer hope, faith, freedom, love And a promise of prosperity. Depending on how you treat me, My colors come in a variety. I can be as dark as night For I lurk in these still waters Never making a sound. But I can also be as bright as fire, I’ll rekindle your forgotten desires. I own the night. ... Read More

Luxury

I never once thought That freeing my time to talk with you At night was a responsibility. For me, every second spent with you Feels like a luxury. It’s like visiting the spa to have the masseuse Massage the sore muscles on my back. Honey, when I talk to you You always hit the right spot.

You taught me so much About vulnerability On how I can open up myself For the world to see The real me – genuine, Devoid of pretense, insincerity. Honey, you set me free.

Defied

According to studies, Humans have a strong scarcity bias. Unconsciously, we assume that things That are precious are scarce And things that are inferior are plenteous. But this is where I deviate, hon. For no matter how long We spent with each other, Whether too little or too much; My longing for you never subsides. It defies this very logic every time. I missed hearing your soothing voice The other night and all I want Is to be by your side.

Valley of Life

As I trekked The lonely valley of life Amongst a crowd full Of faceless strangers, I felt cold and hollow within; Perpetually craving For someone’s warmth To prove that I’m still One with the living, I waited for the notable Soul that I’ve been yearning. One day our paths Crossed thru divine luck, You, a person belonging From a different dimension, But of the same flock Suddenly grabbed my hand. You kept it warm And kissed my woes goodbye. Oh, such a long wait it was But thank you For bringing me back to life. You rekindled my desires And now you solely own my heart.

Of Ice and Fire

If we lived in the world Of Ice and Fire You’ll be my Targaryen And I your Stark. With your High Valyrian command, Dracarys – Dragonfire; Balerion unleashed his fire And melted the frost That guards my frigid heart, Awakening my inner desires. In the process you vanquished The White Walkers and the Wights, Keeping me safe throughout The incoming long winter nights. I can only marvel At your prominence from afar, My valiant King As I saw you with your Mighty dragon, Balerion Dancing in the sky whilst leaving.

Miles apart we art, Mine own loveth But ev’ry moment I spendeth with thee Wast treasured in mine own young heart Yond nay bejewel’d items can surmount. Mine own image of thee Wast p’rpetually sear’d Into mine own sagacious mem’ry. So yond at which hour We meeteth finally I would not passeth Thee by unknowingly.

Killeth’r

Mine own silence wast deem’d as a killeth’r F’r thee bethought I wast b’red, But haven’t thee bethought yond I harkened intently Whenev’r thou art so engross’d On telling thy tales of l’re? I nev’r once consid’r’d thee a b’re. These snippets of inf’rmations Art something I would liketh to rememb’r So I carefully st’r’d t in mine own headeth, Craving f’r thee to tell me m’re Rath’r than f’rgetting t altogeth’r Then competeth f’r who can conv’rse m’re. I can only desire thee und’rstand Yond mine own silence dost not signify I’m b’red, Mine own loveth, I strongly impl’re. F’r t pains me to knoweth Yond I did hurt thee By being comf’rtable in silence And in being int’rest’d in the bygones.

It's too early to deem this as an unfortunate day. Everything went smoothly as I arrived at the vicinity a tad too early. I was definitely expecting to conduct a class and start with the new lesson on Price Elasticity of Demand. After 3 hours, the wait was finally over. I was walking along the corridors of the 3rd floor along with some of my students who came for me (Isn't it sweet that some of my students would go out of their way to walk me to our class everyday?). All of a sudden, we heard a tumult emanating from every classroom. All of us were pretty confused but then we just went on our way towards the stairs. Little did we know that we're doomed. We were walking down the stairs towards the landing when...Boom! It's like hundreds of caged horses were galloping towards their freedom. It caused a stampede. Here we are, at the right place and at the wrong time, ... Read More

Storm

You were my thunder And I’m your lightning. Your stentorian voice Serenades me each night As I strike you with my love, Can you feel the tingle, the warmth? We’ll brew a storm tonight For we rule the skies. Let the world marvel at our love When our souls collide As tears of joy fall from the skies To kiss the parched ground.
